ICAPOIL CO is a special solvent-free, non-water-based oil developed to improve dynamic water resistance and give leathers a characteristic waxy/greasy or natural pull-up effect.
Its viscous, high-performance formulation forms an active barrier that swells on the surface of the leather upon contact with water, dramatically reducing penetration and improving resistance to the penetrometer test (Maeser test).
Performance and versatility
Due to its hydrophobic behavior and film-forming properties, ICAPOIL CO is ideal for the finishing of:
- Non-waterproofing split and buffed leathers, improving their water resistance without altering their breathability.
- Full-grain leather where a waxy, natural finish is desired.
- “Pull-up” or “crazy horse” effect items, in combination with our NEWAX H50 wax for even more pronounced and authentic results.
The final effect can vary from a light pull-up to an intense waxed effect, depending on skin type and amount applied.
Application
- Heated roller application (50-60 °C) in pure form.
- Alternatively, it can be diluted with Butyl Acetate or Ethylglycol for cold application, adjusting the viscosity and cosmetic performance according to the implant and the desired result.
- The amount of product, type of solvent and degree of dilution are key parameters to balance aesthetic effect and water resistance.
